Crave Catering Executive Chef Lance Hamlin

Chef Lance is Minnesota born and comes with a food background starting from a young age. Growing up in the Minneapolis suburbs with one brother, a military father, and a mother who waitressed Monday thru Friday, Lance’s first introduction to food left something to be desired. His father, considering food to be fuel not fun, provided the same dinner Monday thru Friday for six years. Mac & Cheese, white rice, steamed spinach over cottage cheese, and pineapple wheel out of a can. Served on a military tray proceeded by the boisterous catch phrase “LINE–UP”. For many of these years he thought that was all there was till he started walking up to the T Wright’s, the restaurant that his mother worked at and watched from the server station all the action and excitement of a full kitchen. At that point he was hooked!

By fourteen he got his first job as a dishwasher at Snuffy’s Malt Shop and a year later as a prep cook at the same restaurant his mother served at and hasn’t looked back since. Moving to catering by the age of 16 his now 15 years of experience in the catering world has provided him with a wealth of knowledge and plenty of stories. Having cooked for three Presidents, Senators, prospective candidates, many celebrities, CEOs, and countless prominent figures in the Twin Cities area there is not much he hasn’t seen. Two years ago he made his latest move to Crave as Executive Chef; tasked with developing the catering division. Crave Catering has become one of the predominant caters in the Twin Cities.

Benjamin Roberts from France 44

He threw away all of his suits and became the manger of a farm-to-table restaurant in Brooklyn, NY. The Midwest beckoned and in 2008 Benjamin became the Cheesemonger-In-Chief of the newly re-imagined France 44 Cheese Shop. When Benjamin is kicked out of society to a deserted island he will be taking Comte with him.
